Momma, I love you. I love you and Mandy and Daddy, but not Korey. I don’t like him and I don’t love him.
Oh, I’m sure you love your brother.
No, I don’t. And, I love Kristen too, cause she’s in my family when I’m at Daddy’s.
(breathe)
I’m glad you love Kristin.
Why?
Because she loves you.
Mommy, sometimes I think Kristen is my Mommy.
(breathe)
Do you call her Mommy?
Yesh.
Then what do you say?
Oopsie!
You know who your Mommy is, right?
(snuggle, hug, squishy nose)
Yesh, you’re my Mommy.
Good night sweetheart.
Cuddle me Momma.
Ok.
(Smile)

Oh, boy, H. This one made me catch my breath. My Ex has been gradually introducing the kids to his girlfriend, who he’s been dating for over 2 years. we haven’t gotten this far yet, but…
Hang in there. Your boys know exactly who their mom is. And she sounds like a good one.

Susan, thanks. Their Dad read this post and said JB has never called Kristin Mommy. But, it was obviously on his mind. If I had to describe my kids, KD would be non-fiction and JB pure fiction. It’s up to me to nurture that wonderful imagination and swallow a few lumps along the way.
But just to even the score, KD recently announced he wants a stepdad. JB asked him what a stepdad was and KD told him, “It’s like another Dad, but not your real Dad, and he takes care of things.” Sounds like that country song.
